The "MOCCA: Multi-level orders of corruption in Central Asia" mid-term meeting was successfully held in Istanbul, Turkey, on 2nd February. The primary objective of the meeting was to discuss the project's progress and plans and coordinate research and secondment activities among the participants. The meeting brought together European beneficiaries, Turkey, and Central Asian partners: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.
During the meeting, Rustamjon Urinboyev, the project's Principal Investigator, and Elmurod Sobirov, the Project Assistant, presented the Project Progress Report to a representative from the EU Commission's European Research Executive Agency and other project members.
The mid-term meeting also featured secondment experiences shared by project participants. For instance, Nuruipa Mukanova, Secretary General of the Anti-Corruption Business Council under the Kyrgyz Republic, shared her valuable insights and experiences during her secondment at Charles University. Additionally, Kobil Ruziev from Kurultai Research and Consulting, Peter Finke from Zurich University, and Anna Jordanova from Charles University also shared their respective experiences during their time at Lund University.
The EU Commission's European Research Executive Agency representative, responsible for overseeing the project's progress, held a separate session with all seconded researchers. This session included a question-and-answer segment addressing matters related to their secondment and financial aspects. Additionally, the representative provided information on project requirements and deliverables and answered practical questions concerning project management.
Overall, the MOCCA Project Mid-Term Meeting in Istanbul served as a platform for fruitful discussions, knowledge exchange, and strengthening collaboration among the project participants, contributing to the successful advancement of the project.
