Zhetysu University is the largest educational and scientific centre in the Almaty region of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The university provides teaching in 89 educational programs for undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral studies, accredited by international agencies IQAA and ACQUIN.

The University has 6 higher schools: the higher school of law and economics, the higher school of humanities, the higher school of pedagogy and psychology, the higher school of natural sciences, the higher school of technical sciences, and the higher school of physical culture and art.

The University is a full member of the Association of Higher Educational Institutions of Kazakhstan, the Eurasian Association of Universities, an associate member of the European Association of Universities, and a member of the Eurasian Union of Academic and International Cooperation.

The University collaborates with more than 60 universities in Europe, Central Asia, Southeast Asia and the USA on the basis of cooperation, double-degree education, and academic mobility of students and teaching staff are implemented.

Zhetysu University conducts fundamental and applied scientific research in all substantive areas. The teaching staff and students carry out research within the framework of national and international projects.

The University ranks 7th in the national ranking among multi-profile Universities in Kazakhstan and entered the TOP-241-250 of the best Universities in developing Europe and Central Asia in the QS ranking.

Zhetysu University is located in the city of Taldykorgan, which is one of the most environmentally friendly cities in Kazakhstan.
