Stockholm, Sweden - From May 5th to May 11th, a delegation from Uzbekistan visited Sweden as part of the MOCCA project, in cooperation with the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Stockholm.
The delegation was led by the Deputy Head of the Department for Combating Economic Crimes at the General Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The group included representatives from the mentioned department as well as the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
During the first three days of the visit, the delegation held several business meetings in Stockholm. They exchanged experiences and best practices with the management of the following Swedish government agencies:
- Enforcement Authority (Kronofogden)
- Prosecution Authority (Åklagarmyndigheten)
- Customs Service (Tullverket)
- Economic Crime Authority (Ekobrottsmyndigheten)
- Tax Agency (Skatteverket)
In the final two days, the delegation visited Lund University to learn about the institution's intellectual capacity and research activities. They were introduced to academic perspectives and global trends in combating the shadow economy, as well as Sweden's experiences in this area, through lectures by Professors Rustamjon Urinboyev and Patrik Olsson.
During their stay, the delegation also familiarized themselves with MOCCA project research on corruption, money laundering, and terrorist financing.
This collaborative visit aimed to foster knowledge-sharing and strengthen bilateral cooperation between Uzbekistan and Sweden in the fight against economic crimes.
